Tier lists, not star ratings
Rank everything you've watched. Five tiers, zero overthinking.
Stars are vague. Tiers are honest. Drop every movie and show you've seen into S, A, B, C, or F, and watch your taste turn into something you can actually see — and share.
One list, every tier
Movies and TV shows live together. Drag to reorder inside a tier, or tap a title to move it.
See the consensus
Every title shows the community's tier distribution, so you know when you're the outlier.
1.4M+ titles
Search movies and series with instant, typo-tolerant results. New releases are added daily.
Made to be shared
Export a clean tier-list card sized for Instagram Stories and TikTok in one tap.

Recommendations
Recommendations built from how you rank, not what's trending.
Your tier list is a taste profile. MoviePal reads it — what you put in S, what you put in F, and everything in between — to find titles you'll actually love, and tells you why each one made the cut.
For You feed
A personal feed that updates as you rank. Every pick shows its reason — "because you loved Stalker" — and one tap adds it to your watchlist or tier list.
Pal, your movie companion
Ask Pal for a pick in plain English. It knows your rankings, skips what you've seen, and checks in with a suggestion when you've gone quiet.
Filter by your streaming services
Only see what you can watch tonight on Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Max, Apple TV+, Hulu, and more.
Teach it in one tap
Mark a pick "Not interested" and it's gone for good. Rank something and your next batch gets sharper.
Movie night, solved
Stop scrolling in a group chat. Get one pick for the whole room.
Shared recommendations for two, group recommendations for everyone. MoviePal blends the tier lists in your friend group and finds what all of you will actually enjoy — on the services you already pay for.

FAQ
Questions, answered.
Everything people usually ask before they download. Anything else? Email us any time.
Is MoviePal free?
MoviePal is free to download from the App Store. Full access to features like recommendations, taste matching, and messaging is included with a MoviePal subscription, which starts with a free trial. You can cancel any time from your Apple Account settings.
How is a tier list different from star ratings?
Stars ask you to be precise about something that isn't. Tiers ask a simpler question: is this an all-time favorite (S), something you loved (A), good (B), meh (C), or did you hate it (F)? Because everyone answers the same five-way question, MoviePal can compare taste between people far more reliably than star averages.
Can I import my Letterboxd ratings and watchlist?
Yes. Request your data export from Letterboxd (Settings → Import & Export), then open the ZIP with MoviePal. Your ratings are mapped to tiers (you can adjust the mapping) and your watchlist is imported. Titles are matched by name and year on your device.
Does MoviePal track TV shows too?
Yes. Movies and TV series live in the same tier list, the same watchlist, and the same recommendations. The catalog covers over 1.4 million titles and updates daily.
How does the taste match percentage work?
MoviePal compares the titles you've both ranked and how far apart your tiers are. Ranking the same film S versus F counts against you much more than A versus B. The result is a single percentage that updates as either of you ranks more.
Is MoviePal available on Android?
MoviePal is currently an iPhone app. We're focused on making the iPhone experience great first.
Who can message me?
Friends can message you directly. Anyone else, including taste matches, sends a message request that sits in a separate inbox until you accept it. You can block or report any user from their profile or a conversation.
Find your taste twin
Meet people who watch exactly like you.
MoviePal compares your tier list with every other member's and surfaces the people who rank movies the way you do — down to the percentage. Then it gets out of the way so you can talk about them.

Compatibility you can trust
The match score weighs every shared title and how far apart you ranked it — an S versus an F counts for a lot more than an A versus a B.
Message anyone, safely
DM friends directly, or send a message request to a match. Requests stay in a separate inbox, and blocking and reporting are one tap away.
